For more than 50 years, Perolina’s Shing-A-Ling has delighted generations of Filipinos, tracing its roots to Na Ide Original Shing-A-Ling, where the family’s tradition of crafting this iconic snack first began. Known for its unmistakable crunch and timeless flavor, Shing-A-Ling quickly became a beloved merienda, enjoyed by generations of Filipinos.
The legacy continued through Lamberto Perolina, son of Na Ide, who carried the family business forward while staying true to its original recipe and values. Under his guidance, Shing-A-Ling expanded beyond its local beginnings, steadily building a loyal following across Laguna and nearby provinces through consistency, dedication, and quality.
A major milestone came in the 1990s when Shing-A-Ling reached international shores, finding its way to Filipino communities abroad in countries such as the United States, Dubai, and beyond. This expansion marked a proud moment for the Perolina family, bringing a distinctly Filipino snack to the global stage while staying true to its original taste and quality.
Beyond the snack business, Lamberto’s strong agricultural background influenced the family’s values and direction. As an Education Program Supervisor (EPS) for Agriculture with the Department of Education (DepEd) in Laguna, Lamberto has focused on integrating nutrition and gardening projects in schools, earning accolades from SEARCA and SEAMEO for improving student health and food security. He has championed collaborations with universities such as UPLB and CPSU to expand initiatives into animal production, bee culture, and tree planting, significantly reducing child malnutrition and inspiring parents to adopt home gardening.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, the Perolinas adapted once again. Alongside Shing-A-Ling, they introduced plants and pots, turning Lamberto’s lifelong passion for agriculture into a venture that reflected their deep respect for the land that has long sustained their livelihood.
Following the retirement of Mr. and Mrs. Perolina in 2023, the family refocused on strengthening Perolina’s Shing-A-Ling while continuing the plants and pots venture. Today, the brand stands as a story of resilience and growth; honoring tradition, honoring the land, and moving forward with the same dedication that started it all.

For the Perolina clan in Pagsanjan there’s more to these egg noodles…
